Give or Take

How close can you get?

A live estimation game for groups. Everyone answers the same numeric question, like how many gallons are in an Olympic pool, on their own phone or laptop. When time is up, every guess lands on one number line together, and then the real answer drops in.

Nobody needs to know the exact answer. The fun is seeing where everyone landed, whether the room thought alike, and how close (or wildly wrong) it was.

Sample reveal

How many miles long is the Mississippi River?

Twelve guesses, one answer. Tap a paw print to see who guessed what.

in miles

You guessed 2,200 miles. Off by 140 miles (6% off). Closest in the room: 100 points.

Kai went with 12,000. Every game has a Kai.

How a question runs

Guess, reveal, repeat.

01

Estimate

Everyone gets the same question on their own device and types a number before the clock runs out. You can change your mind until time is up.

02

See where everyone landed

All the guesses drop onto one number line at the same moment. Clusters, lone wolves, and the one wild outlier all show up together.

03

Reveal the answer

The actual answer drops in, with the group median for comparison. The closest guess wins the question.

04

Standings

Placement points carry across questions, so gallons, miles, and dollars all count the same. Standings update after every question.

Scoring

Closer is better. Speed doesn't matter.

Each question ranks everyone by how far their guess was from the answer. The closest guess scores 100, the furthest scores 0, and everyone else lands in between by placement. Ties share the better place. Because scoring is by placement, a question about gallons counts the same as one about years or dollars.

Miss a question and you just score nothing for it. Standings update after every question, so there is always a chance to move up.
